6 UNIQUE MUST DO’S IN PARIS

Ahh Paris. One of Helon’s favorite cities, a city she has been to multiple times, and one of our honeymoon destinations. Paris is a huge city with endless must dos and it can seem a bit intimidating while planning your vacation to Paris. Here are our top 6 unique must do’s in Paris with your significant other.

MIMOSAS ON THE LOVE LOCK BRIDGE

My plan was to grab fresh squeezed orange juice on Rue Cler, some champagne, and head over to the Eiffel Tower to sit on the lawn, enjoy the view, and sip on mimosas. Well, we got to the Eiffel Tower and there was construction. We were not feeling that romantic vibe, so we headed to the Love Lock Bridge.

We sat on a bench, popped our champagne, and locked our love with the most American lock we could have possibly brought *cough christian cough*. This was one of our favorite memories of Paris. A time of relaxation and taking in the view of Musee D’Orsay and the Seine. It was a memorable moment that I would recommend taking the time doing if you are visiting Paris with your significant other.

GO TO A MUSEM AND PRETEND YOU UNDERSTAND ART

Just bear with me here. This happened directly after that wonderful moment at Love Lock Bridge and downing an entire bottle of champagne. We went to Musee D’Orsay and had the absolute best time. At one point we sat down in front of this gigantic, beautiful piece of art in the center of a room. We then realized all of these people honestly thought we were studying this piece of artwork. NO ONE stepped in front of us for a solid 5 minutes. Everyone stood to the side or behind us while we pretended to be dissecting this piece of art. It’s a story we honestly crack up over because when we go to a museum our conversation is more along the lines of “oh, I like that, that’s pretty” or “hmm.. interesting”.

SEE THE CITY VIA LIME SCOOTERS

must do's in paris

We rode lime scooters ALL OVER Paris and it was an absolute blast. Sometimes we would ride one together, other times we would ride our own. The metro is great if you need to get somewhere and do not have time to mess around or get lost, but we saw so, so much of the city that you could not see any other way besides walking. We might have gotten pulled over by the Police for going the wrong way… now it’s something we laugh about, and might have laughed about right after it happened. Oops! Locals probably get annoyed, but we had the time of our lives!

VISIT THE VINTAGE CLOTHES SHOPS

Best. Deals. Ever.
You guys. There is NOTHING like vintage shopping in PARIS! This is actually something Christian really wanted to do and I fit it into our itinerary. We found some of the most amazing shops and looking back I wish we would have had more time to shop. I am not one to want to shop on a vacation like this one, but we were finding the coolest things and can not wait to do it again.

EAT LIKE A LOCAL

This. Is. A. Must.
Paris has the most delicious cuisine and you do not have to eat at Michelin star restaurants to have an absolutely mouth watering meal. Find the restaurants that the locals go to, the kind of restaurant that hardly anyone speaks english. I know this can be intimidating but you will find the most amazing meals. Two restaurants that I can 100% recommend: La Boîte Aux Lettres in Montmartre and Le Resto (8 Rue Tournefort).

Edit: I am SO SAD. On Google Maps it says Le Resto is permanently closed. This is a restaurant my family and I stumbled upon years ago, I was in 3rd grade. The restaurant was family owned and no one spoke a lick of english. Christian and I went back for our honeymoon, nearly 20 years later, and it was exactly the same. This was definitely a hidden gem that I’m sure is greatly missed in Paris.

SEE THE CITY AT 5 AM

I am NOT an early bird. I am the definition of a night owl. However, the jet lag was so so real on this trip and I woke up at 5AM on the day we were leaving Paris. Christian was OUT so I let him sleep, left him a note, and went on a little adventure. To be honest, this is my favorite thing I have ever done in Paris. The city was still asleep and I felt like I had it all to myself. We were staying right next to The Louvre, so I started my little journey down the Jardin des Tuileries to the Palace de la Concorde, all of which was completely empty. Then hopped on the metro to the George V stop and came out looking at a completely empty Champs Elyse and Arc de Triumph. It truly was magical.

And there ya go! Next time you are in Paris I would recommend checking a few of these off your list in addition to all of the other must-do’s that Paris has to offer.

All the love,
